Interim Economy Strategy Project Officer | London | £ Negotiable

• Take lead responsibility for the successful project management and delivery of a number of high value complex named capital projects within the council’s capital programme, delivering on time and within budget, and representing value for money; liaising with the technical lead on the planned maintenance programme ensuring sustainable long-term solutions.

• Ensure effective co-ordination and prioritisation of the efficient delivery of the council’s property strategic objectives.

• Support and assist the capital programme manager in developing a efficient and effective capital works supply chain to deliver value for money, quality of service and overall operate efficiently.

• Work closely with and regularly collaborate with peers and senior management to ensure a fully integrated property approach is achieved and maintained.

• Act as the intelligent client in the delivery of building projects (via consultants) ensuring best practice construction project management (including associated procurement and contract management) and both successful and efficient delivery leading to good customer satisfaction.

• Provide ‘best practice’ input and support to the range of building projects within the council’s capital programme.

• Manage a range of internal and external stakeholders in the planning and delivery of capital projects.

• Ensure contract adherence, delivery against contract specifications and overall supplier delivery efficiency via audits and close monitoring.

• Ensure clients understand and consultants work to the agreed council project methodology.

• Ensure quality architectural, engineering and surveying advice and in addition compliance with regulatory and statutory regulations and requirements

• Assist in the continued development of property asset management in line with best practice

Skills; Experience and Attitude

    • An understanding or knowledge of project management disciplines.
    • Experience in developing and implementing projects.
    • Working with a variety of stakeholders both within and outside the organisation.
    • Good communication skills, both in person and particularly in writing.
    • Strong ICT skills using a variety of Microsoft Office applications.
    • Creative problem-solving skills to address issues and mitigate risks in project delivery.
    • Experience of producing written reports, briefings and project documentation to a high standard.
    • Skills and Experience to build and maintain relationships focused upon delivering project outcomes.
    • Skill to manage workload and prioritise work appropriately
    • An attitude to work with flexibility and to focus upon delivering actions in a timely fashion.
    • To work collaboratively and with respect for all.
    • A commitment to work in a manner that demonstrates the Council’s core values and behaviours.
    • Experience of working within a Local Authority.
    • Understanding and awareness of delivery of ICT based applications, website or platforms.
    • Experience of delivering and working in partnership projects
